Praise and Thanksgiving

John 8:12 – Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

We adore you, Father, that although we were once in complete darkness and death spiritually, you sent your Son into the world to bring light and life. He lived and died in our place to bring us out of the darkness of our sin and into your marvellous light! You opened our eyes and granted us the light of life – you are light and you have made us children of the light!

We want this light to spread throughout the creation, Lord, and ask that you will hear our prayers this morning and light up this world with Your glory!

Global Topics

MALAYSIA Muslim women who convert to Christianity are punished by their families and may be forcibly divorced, beaten, locked up or banished. Pray for strength and community for women who have chosen to risk it all and follow Jesus.

National Topics

Thank you for the religious freedoms we enjoy in this land, Father, and for organizations like the Alliance Defending Freedom, which labor to preserve them and to help churches deal with threats to their liberties. Continue to strengthen them in this work and to give them wisdom to anticipate trends and movements that may undermine our freedoms.

Local Topics

Church on Mill, led by Chuck Newkirk. Pray for his health (lupus), their ministry to the ASU campus, and the international impact this may have as those who come from overseas to study are saved and return to their homelands.

Fellowship Topics

As we prepare for the fall, Lord, we want to pause and thank you for every blessing and every gift you have lavished upon us this year to date. Please give us grace as a fellowship to be a more fruitful community and a more faithful presence in the fall, bringing the light of the gospel into this dark world. And please be with our children and youth as they return to their studies. Help them to avoid the deceptions of this world and to know the truth that will set them free. Be also with Keith this morning and use him as he brings your word to us.
