Praise and Thanksgiving

Romans 6:15–18 — What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

We praise you, Father, that you have set us free from bondage to sin and made us slaves of righteousness! Help us more and more to live in a full realization of this status – because it means we don’t have to sin any more now that sin is not our master and we are under grace and not under law! Help us not to listen to the old man and the enemy when they try to tell us we have to sin and that nothing has changed. Give us grace to be more and more obedient and to experience more of the depths of riches that are ours because of your generosity and kindness to us in Jesus Christ!

This gracious liberty that we have is breathtaking, Lord! Hear us now as we pray for others to lose their chains by becoming bondslaves to Christ!

Global Topics

Acts 29 (Europe). Danbury Mission Evangelical Church in Essex (England) are planning to plant a (yet unnamed!) church into the nearby city of Chelmsford in April 2020. Chelmsford is a growing mission field and a strategic center for gospel-poor mid-Essex. Praise God for the exciting venue identified in the city center. Pray for the interest meetings that began 9/12, and for a clear, shared vision for the church.

National Topics

Father, please do not deal with us in this nation as our sins deserve. We are storing up wrath for the day of your wrath and even now if we have eyes to see, your wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. But we call this to mind, Father, and therefore we have hope: your steadfast love never ceases; your mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. So please, Lord, in your wrath against this land, remember mercy! Bring glory to yourself by putting your infinite mercy and grace on display for all to wonder at. Protect your church and defend the honor of your name. Revive your work in the midst of the years, our gracious and loving Father!

Local Topics

Trinity Bible Church and their pastor, Josh Vincent. Blessings on the life and ministry of the fellowship as they learn about “David – ordinary man, extraordinary king” and undoubtedly look from great David to his greater Son. Also, please bless Josh’s work within the Gospel Coalition of Arizona.

Fellowship Topics

Lord, we want to be a gospel community! We want people to know that we belong to Jesus just by seeing the love we have for you and for one another. We want to experience you and our Savior every moment of the day in the things you have made and your generosity to us, but above all we want to see Jesus as His likeness is increasingly formed in every member of the body here. Please hear us in this Lord! Help us not to be content to paddle in the shallows when there is an ocean depth of grace and love we can know here and now! Please continue to use your Word to make these things a reality among us – do it this morning, Lord, for your glory!
