Praise and Thanksgiving

Luke 2:11-14 — For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

As we see you for who you are – holy and happy, tender and tough, loving and just – we stand in appropriate fear and awe and reverence. You are the God over all! Your glory extends over all the earth. Your resurrection power is causing dead souls to come alive through the proclamation of the gospel! We praise you this morning that you are alive and at work across the world to bring glory to your name! Thank you God that you have given us a Savior, Christ the Lord.

As we think about all that you are doing around this world, we stop and give you praise. You are not limited in any way from bringing forth your will. We pray this morning for the ministry happening in Abu Dhabi —

National Topics

We ask for your favor this week to the churches across the country that are teaching on the implications of the baby in the manger. What riches we see in the incarnation! Our God made low to lift us up! We pray that you would open up many eyes this Christmas season to the true purpose behind Christ’s coming and that you would turn outsiders into insiders through the gospel.

Local Topics

God we praise you for the other churches around this city and state that have been given the gospel and are seeking to glorify you. We pray for Whitten Ave Bible Church, Pastor Chris Newkirk and his Elders. Fill them with your spirit this morning, God, and open wide their vision of your glory so they will preach and lead and serve with glad and happy hearts. Would you help families who attend there to grow and mature in Christ? Thank you that we have friends in the gospel across the city.

Fellowship Topics

And for our church, Lord, we give you praise for your mercy to us. We are loved far greater than we deserve. Thank you for our fellowship together in the Lord Jesus and for His cross at our center. We pray for you to comfort the afflicted, afflict the comfortable, and deepen our worship as we continue to treasure the glory of the incarnation.

In Jesus name amen.
