|Psalm 63:1–4 — O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.
Father, we thank You; we praise You, for Your sovereignty. We can have confidence for the future because You tell us in Your Word that “The Lord is king forever and ever; the nations perish from (YOUR) his land. (Psalm 10:16)” But Father, we are frail creatures who groan, worry and fear because we do not fully understand who we serve. If we did understand, then we could live the abundant life that You intend. Help us Lord to trust You, depend on You, to fear You and You alone. Help us not to fear man, circumstances, or possible outcomes from threats and hatred, because we understand that You are in control. Father help our unbelief, and cause us to glorify You when You intervene for us, and remind us, constantly, of the numerous times that You have already delivered us from destruction.
|Father, as we think about this broken world and all of the pain that mankind stirs up and we consider the hate and vitriol between nations, we pray for Your intervention. We now lift up Iran in prayer to You God. The tensions are high after the recent assassination of their most prominent military man by the US. They promise revenge and retaliation but Father You are sovereign over that. And although we pray for safety and security, that is not what You promise to us; rather we know that Your ways are not our ways, and we praise you for that. Father, our prayer this morning for Iran is for revival; a turning from Islam, to the one true God. We are praying for the church there to grow and thrive. Father wake them spiritually and make them a beacon for Your glory. And Father, replace any fear in us with trust in You.
