Praise and Thanksgiving

Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Oh Father, we, Your children, wait on You, hope in You and look to You with eager expectation, confident that You will act decisively for the salvation of Your people. Renew our strength as we lean into Your promises. Cause us to live lives worthy of Your Name. Guard us from weariness as we patiently endure our current trials. Let us not stumble from the path of Your righteousness. Build our faith into a solid rock monument to Your glory. Develop our character so that it reflects Your goodness. Grant us integrity and uprightness as we trust in Your abundant grace and mighty power.

Global Topics

We survey the globe and acknowledge that nothing is outside Your divine control and we plead with You, Lord of heaven and earth, to reveal yourself as protector and sustainer of Your people in China. Even now, as the communist government removes rooftop crosses from buildings that house Your church simply so officials will “feel more comfortable,” teach the saints to patiently endure. Strengthen them and give them joy from the flood of grace that flows from The Cross of Golgotha and use their witness to add to their numbers so they can gather and crowd into crossless buildings and make much of You.

Protect our brothers and sisters in Africa. From the swarming of countless locusts ravaging the lands of Christian farmers in the east to the swarm of muslim violence targeting millions of Christians in the west, Your people are under tremendous strain. Cause them to wait on You, renew their strength, give them wings to soar into the expanses of Your mighty promises. Ground them in hope that comes from You.

All of the world is touched by the Coronavirus. We know, Lord, that much of the world does not share the same advantages that we have in fighting the pandemic. Many do not have food or houses or space or even water available to wash their hands much less the money to obtain protective masks. Give us grateful hearts and cause us to glory in Your provision. Provide for our brothers and sisters in developing countries. Fill their needs, pour rest into their hearts so that they will run and not be weary, walk and not faint.

National Topics

In our own country, our minds are on crisis. Help us to be wise. Heal our people, restore our economy and protect our dignity. Open our eyes to the deep long lasting security found in You so we are not tempted to compromise, seeking safety in science or government or any other thing in this world. Give our country eyes to see that Your church is essential. That life matters and that crisis is a time for humility and unwavering courage rather than grasping pride and lust for power.

Give our leaders clear minds. Give our people strength. Protect us from fear, judgement and self-promotion, give us compassion and empathy for those with whom we disagree.

Local Topics

Unite us as Your church in Arizona and the metro valley. Make us unified in the gospel of the kingdom of your majesty and grace. Make Your church bold and humble and strong so that our witness together will be a pillar of glory in a valley of darkness.

Fellowship Topics

At Grace Church, continue to forge relationships while we are being forced to connect in creative ways. Protect the isolators from self imposed disconnect. Give extroverts patience and peace. Grant us mercy, that we might emerge from these days closer, knit together in the grace and the power of Your gospel. Sharpen our knowledge of Your word, deepen our understanding of Your grace. Make us wise, save our kids and teach us to exercise the freedom that You bought for us with Your blood on The Cross.

It is with zeal and great affection that we proclaim Your goodness and express our gratitude, for we did run and we did grow weary, we did walk and we did grow faint but now we wait upon You, the giver of all things good, full of hope and promise of eternal life in Your presence, and we are strengthened.

Amen
