Praise and Thanksgiving

Philippians 4:5–9 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

We come to you, with thankful hearts, in prayer and supplication, asking you You to grant our request for peace in times of uncertainty and chaos. Guard our hearts and guard our minds with a flood of joy that comes from treasuring Christ Jesus. Let our reasonableness be known as we cast our anxieties on You. Tear our eyes away from lies, dishonor, injustice, vileness, ugliness and base thinking that pervades the world around us and cast our vision on the righteousness of Your Son Jesus Christ so that we may practice truth, honor, justice, purity and excellence. Oh God of peace, be with us. Hear our prayers today and settle us into the bosom of Your loving kindness.

Global Topics

Protect our brother Rob Krause and Serenissima Ministries in Italy who’ve have been deeply effected by the Corona virus. May their faith not waver, ground them in the truth – You Lord, are overall and you command coronaV!
Sustain their ministry efforts as they push forward and launch their “Life Labs” project in the refugee camps. Give them favor as they serve the thousands of refugees that are passing through their region. We ask, Lord, that their service would not stop at providing vital life skills but would overflow into the vital truth that You are the author of life. Save many, from many nations, for Your glory.

We thank you for the special relationship that You have given us with our friends at Gillingham Baptist Church in the UK. Please cause our connection to grow deep for Your honor and glory. We lift them up to You in prayer and ask that you give them grace as they long to stay connected during lockdown. Give them patience that comes only from You. Give them endurance as they are limited from the normal activities of life and keep them from loneliness as they are separated from each other. Fill them with a sense of Your presence, bless their time in Your word and fill them with joy that is unspeakable and full of Your glory.

Lord, we hear of the massive, unchecked spread of the coronaV in Juarez Mexico and can’t help but to think of our friends at Rancho 3M. We ask that you would strengthen the morale of the staff that have volunteered to stay at the ranch while it is in lockdown. Keep their eyes on You and the reality that You are in charge. Protect the whole ranch from the outbreak of sickness and draw them together into deep relationship while their movement is restricted. Guard them from the rampant price gouging of basic foods and supplies. Keep them from harm in a community that is fostering desperation, looting and theft. As alway we ask that you give the kids the gift of Your salvation. Ground them in faith, provide Christian homes and be glorified in the fruit of righteousness that comes from Your gospel.

National Topics

Father God, we turn our eyes to our own country and are thankful and troubled. We thank You for the scientific community in our country. We are grateful that so many are working tirelessly to provide accurate analysis of the coronavirus. But, we are troubled with conflicting reports. Grant us the ability to be reasonable and sharp minded as we evaluate the disparate data. Protect us from our short sidedness so that we are not too eager to claim no threat at all nor quick to embrace threat that is not real. In a world marked by chaos we seek clarity and wisdom from You. Most of all let Your people experience hope in You, ground us in dependence and let our hope be a beacon of shining joy amongst a whole nation that is desperately grasping for solutions outside of You.

These times are unusual and we thank You for the opportunity to evaluate the things that matter most. Lord, we pray that this virus would bring a national change of heart concerning the value of life. Protect our minds and our people and our babies by causing us to face death, all death, with reverence and awe. Use the specter of losing life to make us value life that comes from You, the giver of life. Give us eyes to see that our fight for human dignity and human life is born from knowing You, the giver of eternal life. Move us to action and use us to defend truth, justice and goodness in a nation that has lost sight of those things.

Nothing happens without Your command. Allow us, Oh Lord, to go back to work, to go back to gathering and living. Give us clarity as a nation, make us smart, and temper our fears. And cause us to give You the glory.
