Leadership

Pastors/Elders

Pastors/Elders teach and preach the Word, oversee the church, and shepherd the souls of those under their care.

Chris Daukas

Lead Pastor

Chris grew up with a loving family and in a moral home, but despite his upbringing, he was a sinner in need of grace. In his sophomore year of college, Chris yielded his life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He began to devour the Word and was soon helping to lead bible studies, outreaches, and worship at church. He married his beautiful wife, Tara, in the summer of 2000.

They were founding members of East Valley Bible Church Tempe (now Grace Bible Church in Tempe, AZ). The following year, Chris joined the staff as Worship Leader and had a growing desire to pursue pastoral ministry.

Chris and Tara relocated in 2003-2004 for training at a Pastor’s College and they returned to serve at a fellowship in Gilbert. While ministering there, God further strengthened a desire in Chris’ heart to see another church planted. After years of conversations and prayers, the planting team of Grace Church began to form. Chris, Tara, and their children relocated in May of 2009 to the northwest side of Phoenix in Peoria, AZ. Four months later, Grace Church had its public launch and the church was born.

Chris currently serves as the Lead Pastor for Grace Church and is passionate to see God transform lives through His glorious gospel. He has a B.A. in Religious Studies from Arizona State University and an M.Div. in Missiology from Southern Seminary. He and Tara now have four children – Taylor, Trevor, Rylee, and Alexie.

Jamie Self

Executive Pastor

Jamie has served in full-time ministry since 1999. He loves serving Christ, discipling men and eating smoked beast. He is proud to be married to his beautiful, godly wife Andrea and enjoys spending time with his two adult children, Makenzie and JJ.

Jon Moorhead

Bivocational Pastor

Jon was born and raised in Idaho where he grew to love the outdoors and where he first heard the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although God demonstrated His power and grace to Jon many times in those early years, it wasn’t until he was 22 and experienced true brokenness, that he responded to God’s calling to follow Him.

After spending some time as a medic in the Army, Jon moved to Arizona to go to college. There he met Stacie, and in 1997 they were married. Jon and Stacie are blessed with four children whose ages span 13 years from oldest to youngest: Abby, Sarah, Tanner and Jacob.

Since becoming a follower of Jesus, Jon has served in campus evangelistic ministry, led Bible studies, been a small group leader, taught in children’s ministry and served as Director of student ministries among other things. The Lord brought Jon, Stacie and their family to Grace Church in 2010, during its first year as a church. Jon works full time in the Information Technology field and still loves getting out in God’s creation.

Deacons

Deacons take care of the physical and logistical needs of the church so that the elders can concentrate on their primary calling.
