A Little Bit of Hope

Pastor Jamie Self - 11/23/2025

In the closing verses of Jeremiah, after a detailed account of Jerusalem’s destruction and exile, an unexpected moment of grace appears as Jehoiachin, the exiled Davidic king, is released from prison and welcomed at the Babylonian king’s table. This shift from devastation to dignity reveals God’s enduring commitment to His covenant promises, even after judgment. Pastor Jamie Self highlights this as a powerful picture of the gospel, showing how God invites us daily into relational, restorative presence through Christ.

Weekly Reflection

“God's judgment was total but His promise is indestructible. A Davidic king still lives… and eats at a royal table”
When life falls apart—plans unravel, relationships break, or hope seems buried—our hearts quietly wonder: has God moved on without me? The closing scene of Jeremiah, a bleak book full of loss, surprises us with grace. Jehoiachin, a dethroned king, is lifted from prison and welcomed to feast at the king’s table. After 37 years in exile, restoration comes. This moment reminds us: even when judgment is deserved, God’s covenant mercy endures. Are you living as if God’s promises are canceled or kept?
