Ready or Not, Here He Comes

Kyle Morris - 1/4/2026

John the Baptist is introduced as both a prophet and forerunner, sent by God to prepare the people of Israel for the coming of Jesus through a message of repentance and heart-level transformation. Drawing on the rich tradition of Old Testament prophets, John calls the people to bear fruit in keeping with repentance, applying specific acts of love, justice, and humility to different groups, such as tax collectors and soldiers. Pastoral intern Kyle Morris emphasizes that true readiness for Christ’s return comes through a life of ongoing repentance, Spirit-empowered obedience, and love for both God and others, as judgment will come for those who reject the message.

Weekly Reflection

“Repentance is not behavior modification. It is heart transformation rooted in the mercy of God and empowered by the Spirit of God”
Are you ready for Jesus? John's bold call in Luke 3 echoes like a wake-up siren: prepare the way of the Lord. John was calling the people to return to the Lord with their whole hearts. He was the voice of a prophet and forerunner, warning that the King is coming. Jesus came once in humility and will come again in judgment.
